On Twitter today, Mayor Suttle engaging like ‘Old Spice Guy’

Like the rest of Omaha today, the mayoral recall vote has our attention here in the Silicon Prairie News office. With our focus on our region's startup community, however, we haven't covered the news item thus far, but recent tweets from @JimSuttle, the Twitter account of Mayor Jim Suttle, are too interesting not to cover.

Taking a page from the Old Spice marketing campaign this past July in which the "Old Spice Guy" made instant video replies to tweets, posted them to YouTube and then replied to the orginal tweets, Mayor Suttle is doing much the same. So far, he's made two reply videos, each one lasting 11 seconds. (For more on the Old Spice campaign, see Mashable: "The Old Spice Guy Now Making Custom Videos for Fans via Social Media.")

To view his Twitter replies and video, visit Mayor Suttle's Twitter account, @JimSuttle, and whatever your stance on the matter, we encourage you to get out and vote today. To learn more, see the Omaha World-Herald's "Mayor Suttle recall voters' guide."

Pretty cool of him to do this. We could use more instant feedback like this in our government, at all levels.
