For our article last week covering the launch of SmartyPig‘s iPhone app, I asked SmartyPig co-founder Michael Ferrari five questions via email. His answers to the first four made it in our post, “SmartyPig just got smarter, now offering iPhone app,” but I held out his answer to the last, a simple “Anything else to add?” questions, for a separate post.

Reading his answer to that question (below) gets me excited about the passion and drive of the individuals we cover. You can’t help but feel the passion (and yes, a bit of a salesmanship) in Ferrari’s words. My job as the managing editor of Silicon Prairie News has me speaking with inspiring individuals on a daily basis, the following is an example of some of that inspiration. I hope this helps you get your day started off right.

Michael Ferrari, in response to an “Anything else to add?” question on January 4th:

I come to work each and every day thinking about how we can make SmartyPig better. We are going to continue to focus on mastering this idea of helping people reach their goals. Whatever they are. Everyone should be saving for something. We simply can’t continue to spend beyond our means, living on credit. And as a note to anyone reading this… Have you ever saved up for something before you bought it? Before SmartyPig, I rarely did. Actually, I probably never did. But was the exact reason I had this idea years ago. It’s a great feeling. I had a woman email me telling me about the vacation she saved up for on SmartyPig. And how, on the trip home, she just had this huge smile on her face. Yes, she had a great vacation. But the best part? It was all paid for. So I encourage everyone to setup a savings goal on SmartyPig. And while you are out and about and you pass by Starbucks, forgo the latte, whip out your iPhone and add $3 to your goal. It will make you smile. I promise.
