At the American Bankers Association Bank Marketing Conference in Minneapolis last month, Cedar Falls-based T8 Webware introduced a web application geared towards community financial institutions.* The application, Cre8 My Card, allows costumers of those institutions to easily personalize debit cards. It can pull personal photos from a costumer’s offline files or from a selection of social media sites, such as Facebook and Flickr.

Cre8 My Card is a white-label solution for these institutions, such as Bank Iowa shown in the example on the left (image from cre8mycard.com). In other words, T8 Webware provides the application and the institution provides the trusted brand consisting of their logo and color scheme.

Financial institutions can also upload and manage their own pre-determined image gallery. Furthermore, during the creation process, customers are able to crop, rotate, resize and even adjust saturation of the image.

In T8’s press release, their CEO, Wade Arnold, provided the following comment about the importance of this application to its costumers:

Allowing consumers to personalize one or more of their payment cards contributes to these cards becoming top of wallet. Instead of a bland branded card, community banks and credit unions now have the opportunity to enhance customer loyalty while also generating additional revenue for the institution.

While Visa has provides a similar service to consumers with its Gift Card Lab, T8 Webware is positioned to allow banks and credit unions to provide a service to costumers for debit card. When I spoke with Arnold Wednesday evening, he said they’ve already had interest from 10 institutions throughout the U.S.

Here’s more information about T8 Webware (provided in the press release), a three-year old startup we hadn’t covered until this product release:

T8 Webware is a strategic web development, management and hosting firm that caters specifically to financial institutions. The company provides progressive, non-template driven websites to more than 150 banks and credit unions, all of which are mobile-enabled. T8 Webware’s philosophy is to help financial institutions leverage their most powerful marketing tool, their website, to drive new business and build an online marketing presence. Most customers experience an ROI within months because of cross sales, while web traffic is also dramatically improved.

*Update 9:20 a.m. – The conference took place last month as opposed to “last week,” which the article originally stated when published.
