Since opening its doors last October, Halo Institute, a nonprofit business incubator, has been a joint venture between Creighton University College of Business and Halo Creative Capital. Now, Halo Institute is calling Creighton “home,” as well.

Halo has moved from 11th & Leavenworth Streets in Omaha’s Old Market district to in the Brandies Building on Creighton University‘s campus, located at 2500 California Plaza.

In the Old Market, Halo Institute was leasing a 9,500-square-foot unit. On Creighton’s campus, they’ll have a space roughly about one-third the size. It’s equipped with five offices and a meeting room. And while the former space was one big open room, Creighton’s space has individual offices.

Anthony Hendrickson, dean of Creighton University College of Business, provided a few comments about the move in yesterday’s press release.

The move to campus will allow our students and faculty to be more involved in the day-to-day operations. This way, we are able to bring even more support to businesses while expanding internship opportunities and other real-world experiences for our students.

In an email interview with Nick Hudson, Halo Institute founder, he said that the goals of Halo Institute would remain the same and the reason for the move was to bring about “more student and faculty involvement and use less on real estate.” He also said that in addition to the five offices, the new space could accommodate “a number of companies who just need occasional meeting space, an address, etc.”

The Halo Institute seeks for-profit, high growth potential startups that have a positive impact on society in fields such as healthcare, sustainable technology and social enterprise.

Here are a few more Halo Institute updates mentioned in yesterday’s press release:
