In preparation for the release of its annual “Forbes 400” issue, the publication sent a photo and video crew to Omaha, Nebraska, where two of the individuals on the list came together for a photo shoot and video interview. Those individuals were hip hop artist and entrepreneur Jay-Z and Omaha’s own Warren Buffett.
In the video below, interviewer Steve Forbes poses a question to Buffett concerning Jay-Z: “What advice would you have for a man who’s succeeded in a business that’s often short-lived…what advice would you give Jay on building [personal] moats?”
Buffett’s reply focuses in on something he says quite often: invest in yourself.
The best moat you can have is your own talent, they can’t take it away from you, inflation can’t take it from you, taxes can take it from you…
He then goes on to put dollar amounts behind learning a new skill, such as learning to communicate better.
