Tuesday, September 29, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Technology Association of Iowa presents Pitch & Grow

Des Moines – Des Moines Social Club (1408 Locust Street)

Entrepreneurs present their pitch to a supportive group of peer CEOs, CIOs, business development experts, industry professionals and street smart people. Each session provides a unique opportunity to receive constructive feedback on areas, such as fundraising, value proposition, business plan, management team, sales/marketing/support, and building strategy.

Thursday, September 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m. – Cornstalks

Omaha – Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce downtown building (1301 Harney Street)

Cornstalks welcomes Ben Milne of Des Moines-based Dwolla to speak on this Thursday. Dwolla is a peer-to-peer money transfer system that allows individuals to exchange money quickly and with lower transfer fees. The first version of Dwolla went live last December.

Mr. Milne will be joining us to discuss his company and things that he has learned regarding starting a new venture in the Midwest.

Drinks and snacks will be served at 6:30 followed by Milne’s presentation at 7:30 p.m.

Cornstalks is a group of people that represent new ventures in the Omaha region. The group meets monthly to discuss relevant topics regarding high growth business issues, including process, finances, raising capital, intellectual property, and other similar topics.  The group typically meets at the Downtown Chamber of Commerce on the last Thursday of every month. All who are interested in these topics, particularly new venturers, are welcome and should plan on attending.

Thursday, September 30, Midnight – Join Ninth Division at the Midnight Showing of “The Social Network”

There is this movie that is coming out soon, that you may have heard of: The Social Network. Hasani and I will be catching the midnight showing Thursday night September 30 at AMC. We thought with this movie, we should extend the invite to the rest of our friends.

Friday, October 1, 7:30 a.m. – Central Iowa Bloggers, aka #CIB

Des Moines – Panera on University (6740 University Avenue)

Kick off the morning with the Central Iowa Bloggers (#CIB) meetup at Panera on University in West Des Moines. CIB is an informal gathering of people interested in blogging typically held on the first Friday of the month. There is no set agenda for this meetup but bloggers begin to arrive around 7:30 a.m. and many stay through the morning.
