This week marks the start of the annual Omaha Fashion Week event, hosted by Nick Hudson and his team at Nomad Lounge. In only its third year in existence, the stats for this week-long event are impressive (from the Omaha Fashion Week press release):
Omaha Fashion Week has emerged as a significant force in the local creative and event scene. In 2008, 12 local designers attracted an audience of nearly 3,000 people. Omaha Fashion Week grew in 2009 with 25 local designers and over 5,000 attendees (including 4,000 at the grand finale) – making Omaha Fashion week the leading fashion industry event in the Midwest. In 2010, over 7,000 attendees are expected to cheer on 37 designers with a large array of talent.

We applaud all of the folks over at Omaha Fashion Week for their commitment to put Omaha on the map, and for encouraging and supporting of Omaha as a vibrant and creative city. Like other large-scale creative events around the city – MAHA Music Festival and Omaha Creative Week to name a couple – Omaha Fashion Week brings together a diverse set of participants and spectators, and builds upon our ever-increasing outside perceptions. Kudos to Nick and his team for pulling off such a great event.

What: Omaha Fashion Week Runway Finale
When: Saturday, September 18, 8 p.m.
Where: 1013 Jones Street, from Ninth Street to Eleventh Street
Tickets: Purchase online at omahafashionweek.com. They range from $20 for general admission to $1,250 for a VIP table of 10 located next to the stage.
