Sunday Video: Common Craft sells explanation

July 25, 2010 by John T. Meyer

I always appreciate businesses that can clearly and concisely explain what they do. Arguably my favorite company on the web, Common Craft, does just that. In fact, their product is explanation, and they can help you explain your own product or service.

Common Craft is a two-person company, a husband and wife duo based in Seattle, Washington. Lee and Sachi LeFever started making videos in 2007 and have since made over 30 videos that have been viewed over 20 million times. The company started by making custom explanation videos for companies like Twitter and Dropbox. After that, Common Craft moved into building a library of educational videos that could be licensed and shared.

As of this week, Common Craft is moving back into the business of being hired to make custom videos. However, with the demand becoming so high for a two-person company, Common Craft has teamed up with Switch Marketing to help produce more videos and maintain a high-level of quality.

Here are a few of my favorite videos from Common Craft:

Twitter in Plain English

Electing a U.S. President in Plain English

Zombies in Plain English
