SmartyPig – Public Relations Social Media Specialist (Des Moines)

SmartyPig is a unique savings program that was designed to help its users save for specific savings goals.

SmartyPig is looking for an energetic and ambitious candidate to fill the following full-time position of Public Relations/Social Media Specialist at its West Des Moines, Iowa location. This position is responsible for day-to-day interaction with members of the media and our PR firm, as well as defining and executing a social media strategy that leverages media placement, social media tools, and online platforms to create synergies, increase exposure/reach and promote brand awareness.

The specialist will manage social media properties including daily monitoring, posting and content development of the SmartyPig blog. Additional responsibilities will include marketing efforts, creating affiliate programs, and buying and placing media advertisements.

Looking for:

  • Experience working with social networks and bloggers to build communities and strategy.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of strategic integrated consumer PR communications and how PR can strengthen the brand and influence perception.
  • Familiarity with traditional consumer and business media.
  • Strong computer, communication and writing skills a must.

Individual must be proficient in all or most of the following: .NET (2.0 & 3.0) — C#, WCF, ASP.NET, Custom Web Controls, AJAX, Microsoft AJAX Toolkit, Microsoft Enterprise Library 2.0; SQL; Web Technologies — XHTML, Familiarity with standard based design, CSS, Graphics; Documentation skills/Technical writing; Familiarity with Test Driven Development; Familiar with Source Code Control Systems. Position requires an associate’s degree in related area and 3–5 years of experience in the field. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Midwest Laboratories is an independent commercial laboratory serving agriculture, industry and the environment.

Midwest Laboratories is looking for a Business Systems Analyst to assist Management with the creating, modifying and implementing laboratory analysis reports.

This individual will work with Client Service Managers, Lab Supervisors and Quality Control/Quality Assurance with respect to report development. The individual should have experience with the following:

  • Using SQL to create query statements.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and MYSQL Databases
  • Some HTML and PHP experience would be welcomed.
  • Knowledge of report distribution systems.

Purpose:

The Web Application Developer is responsible for overseeing the development of all web programming for Orion Advisor Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of NorthStar Financial Services Group, LLC. This position maintains and develops new software, in a client/server environment for the NorthStar websites. The Web Application Developer uses the system development life cycle to ensure delivery of concise, well tested, well thought out, and usable projects, completed in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and implement the continuous development and day to day improvement of the websites for the NorthStar subsidiary companies, this includes exercising discretion through making editorial/stylistic choices, obtaining permissions where necessary, and formatting
  • Represent NorthStar in daily communications with individual users of the website
  • Respond to end user requests and suggestions, provide further information as needed · Provide assistance to end users
  • Build and fix web based programs as needed
