As the headline reads, we owe a big congrats to some of our contributors. From new jobs and opportunities to graduation from college, our team of writers is going places and we’re excited about it.

Here’s the rundown of what’s been happening with our contributors. I encourage you to read the good news about each and leave a nice note in the comments. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading their work as much as I have. Our contributors are so important to carrying out our mission of highlighting and supporting entrepreneurs and creatives on the Silicon Prairie.

Geoff Wood joins Palisade Systems

Geoff has added another spinning plate to his act. In addition to contributing to Silicon Prairie News and serving as the president of VolunteerLocal, a startup providing volunteer management and recruitment software to events, he’s now working with Palisade Systems, a data loss prevention and regulatory compliance company.

What’s especially cool about this news is that Geoff met the folks at Palisade through his coverage of the company for Silicon Prairie News. I guess that’s the risk we take when we connect highly-qualified individuals with some of the region’s most forward-thinking and attractive workplaces.

Here’s more on Geoff’s new gig, taken from Geoff’s post on Palisade’s blog:

My role here is a little tough to describe – it’s quite literally undefined. As a startup, even one with the experience of Palisade, there are lots of things that fall into “undefined.” These are the things that come up day-to-day that become distractions to those who are serving our customers directly, building the product, or even leading the entire operation.

My goal is to take care of that undefined in any way possible to make sure the staff doesn’t get distracted. So far it’s ranged from researching measures of customer satisfaction to writing contracts to helping with the Palisade blog and it’s only been a few weeks. I’m confident moving forward that it will continue to be diverse and I know that it will help further the vision of Palisade.

Andrea Ciurej graduates from UNO with honors

Although Andrea hadn’t officially started her summer internship with us on the day she graduated, we were very happy for her for the diploma and honors she received from University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).

After four years at UNO, Andrea graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in journalism, news-editorial sequence.

And now updates on two of our contributors who are moving on from contributing for Silicon Prairie News to pursue other opportunities.

Adam Templeton graduates from UNL with honors

Like Andrea, Adam also has a graduation from a University of Nerbaska to celebrate, but he’s down the road in Lincoln.

Now as a graduate of UNL’s Honors Program* and a bachelor of arts in Journalism, news-editorial focus, Adam’s taken to being a full-time freelance writer. He’s launched a website, adamtempleton.squarespace.com, to promote his writing and has signed on as a writer for NebraskaEntrepreneur.com.

Adam is also doing freelance work or Green Bein’ Productions, writing the missions and copy for their Kid Command game. Like with Geoff’s new position, we’re proud of being behind this connection – Adam interviewed Green Bein’ founder Collin Caneva for Silicon Prairie News last October.

Aaron Onken writing for Shout! Weekly

Earlier this year, Aaron moved on from being a Silicon Prairie News contributor to explore other opportunities in his free time. It was a treat having him write for us, but now the folks at Shout! Weekly get that pleasure. You can find Aaron’s articles in Shout! at shoutomaha.com/author/aarononken.
