You may recall that a few months ago, Jeff and I, along with several others, went to the State Capitol to testify in support of a bill (LB1109) that would provide funding to research ways that the state of Nebraska can better support high-growth entrepreneurs.
Late last week we received good news that the Nebraska Legislature voted 28-0 to advance the bill to second round debate. From the Unicameral Update blog:
As introduced by Lincoln Senator Danielle Conrad, LB1109 would establish the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Task Force. Comprised of six to 10 legislators appointed by the Executive Board, the task force would commission a nonprofit organization to provide research, analysis and recommendations for the development of a statewide strategic plan to encourage entrepreneurship in Nebraska.
The plan would include an inventory of existing state and locally sponsored programs and resources targeted at small business, microenterprise and entrepreneurship endeavors in the state. The task force would be required to present the plan to the Legislature by Dec. 1, 2010.
