As you may have heard, Scott Harrison, founder of charity: water, is one of this year’s speakers at Big Omaha.

charity: water is a non-profit bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. I’ve been following Scott and his team’s work for some time now and have been unbelievably impressed at what they’ve accomplished in a few short years.

Through their efforts, they have provided clean drinking water – something I take for granted – to over 1 million people, and that number increases each day.

Here’s a great video of Scott’s story, released in 2009 as charity: water’s September Campaign trailer:

I want to harness the power of our amazing community to do our part in providing clean drinking water for a community in need. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by the time Scott arrives in Omaha this May. $5,000 will build a freshwater well in a village and provide 250-plus people with clean drinking water. Thanks to private donors that fund charity: water’s administrative costs, 100% of your donation goes directly to the effort.

Take a look at the video below which gives a snapshot of the work and cause behind charity: water.

Then visit MyCharityWater.org to make your donation to the Big Omaha 2010 charity: water Campaign. Please share the link with others in our community.

I’m continually amazed at the effort and sincerity by our community and I look forward to making a difference for other individuals far, far away from our own city.

Thank you.
