A couple startups were mentioned this past week in the Des Moines Register. The first, a local startup with growing national impact, and the second, a New York City-based startup with growing impact on local businesses.

West Bank expects to end SmartyPig association this year

West Bank and SmartyPig, the online savings program developed by Des Moines entrepreneurs, will likely part ways this year, the West Des Moines company said in its earnings release today.

“SmartyPig’s success in attracting deposits is outgrowing West Bank and in all likelihood SmartyPig deposits will transition to a much larger bank in 2010,” the statement said.

Businesses welcome Foursquare phone game

It's a land where everyone has a shot at claiming dominion over their favorite meeting places.
