Usually, I end up waiting until I remind folks about an upcoming Cornstalks event before posting footage from the previous month, but this time I just couldn’t help myself. In November, Cornstalks attendees heard from Timothy Kephart of Graffiti Tracker and Susan Thaden of Client Resources, Inc. As is our custom at SPN, we recorded some footage to share with those of you who couldn’t be there.

For many of you, it will come as no surprise that Graffiti Tracker (GT) has been pretty busy lately. The members of the GT team can frequently be seen at various entrepreneurial events in the Omaha area. Last month, they hosted their own, the Government 2.0 Innovation Challenge, a weekend competition to develop a technology-based solution to improve government. More recently, GT even helped put a stop to some vandalism taking place in Escondido, California.

You may remember GT founder Timothy Kephart from previous posts. His company occupies an interesting spot on the local startup scene for a few reasons. One is that his business caters primarily to various government institutions, and not the public sector. Another is that his company was founded in California and then decided to relocate to Omaha. Consequently, Tim provided a very unique perspective to the assembled entrepreneurs.

We also had the chance to meet Susan Thaden of Client Resources, Inc. To summarize her story, she decided to start a small business when she saw a general need for IT consulting, and she really felt the need to make sure that the clients’ experience was still more important than simple metrics. Susan provided some great insight on the growth and evolution of both her business and also herself as a businessperson.

I hope you find what they had to say as interesting as I did.
