Reflecting on the creation of the Halo Institute, Jim Esch said that he and his business partner, Nick Hudson, had a feeling that there was quite a bit of talent in Omaha. If they could provide these aspiring entrepreneurs with work space and guidance, it would increase their chances of success.
Born this past summer: The Halo Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization “dedicated to fostering and nurturing social and creative enterprise.”

The Halo Institute, a joint venture between Creighton University College of Business and Halo Creative Capital, LLC, provides entrepreneurs with the resources, strategies and business counsel necessary to dramatically increase their early chances of success. Our goal is to launch up to 20 viable, high impact businesses a year and in the process, further establish Omaha as a national center for entrepreneurial activity and excellence.
Current tenants of the space include a full-service design franchise, Fluff Your Stuff, a medical devices company, Guru Instruments, a sustainability and environmental consulting company, Verdis Group, and a healthy lifestyles company, HabitWise. In addition, WikiCity was a part of the original five but has since moved out after being purchased by Omaha World-Herald Co.
The departure of WikiCity has allowed for the addition of another startup to Halo’s lineup. A highlight of tonight’s open house will be the announcement of Halo’s next tenant.
