1. What is the name, subject and URL of your blog?

I’m talking mostly about www.bentern.com, which is somewhat of a blog. I’ll be traveling around the bay area in a few days here, visiting as many technology companies as possible in one day and filming what happens. Every block of four or five companies, I’ll go ahead and post videos to show the world how it my visits went. I also have my own personal blog as well as GoPollGo’s blog (blog.gopollgo.com) that I maintain.

2. Why do you blog?

I blog mostly to chronicle what happens in my life. I write about, take pictures of, and video what happens to me on a somewhat daily basis. It serves as a good reminder of what I thought or saw at a particular point in time. Then, if I needed to remember some specifics about what happened on a particular day, I can look up the archives and see what happened and my associated thoughts. For GoPollGo’s blog, I merely make annoucements to let users know company/website related information.

3. How long have you been blogging and what blogging software do you use?

I’ve been blogging for quite a while, beginning a rough HTML based blog when I was about a freshman in high school. So I suppose I’ve been “blogging” for about eight years now, 5-6 of which on sites still visible on the web today. I used to just write HTML along with each post, then used a piece of software called greymatter, and now I use wordpress for all of the blogs I maintain.

4. What’s your favorite blog (besides your own)?

I really enjoy reading TechCrunch. Also, both of my siblings maintain blogs and when we’re all dispersed all over the world, it is neat to see what they’re up to. Also, of course, Silicon Prairie News.

5. What do you think the state of the blogosphere is in our region?

I believe it is good. I don’t really guage the “state” of the blogosphere. If a person has a blog and maintains it, that’s cool. If not, that’s cool as well.

Each week, we showcase a Midwest blogger that answers the following five questions in a self-produced, five minutes or less video:

  1. What is the name, subject and URL of your blog?
  2. Why do you blog?
  3. How long have you been blogging and what blogging software do you use?
  4. What’s your favorite blog (besides your own)?
  5. What do you think the state of the blogosphere is in our region?
