Five in Five

With the goal of this series to highlight a blogger each week, I’ve realized the video format isn’t attracting the number of submissions I had hoped. Thanks so much to those of you who have submitted and I hope we have many more videos to come in the future, but starting next week I’ll be taking written answers to the five questions:

  1. What is the name, subject and URL of your blog?
  2. Why do you blog?
  3. How long have you been blogging and what blogging software do you use?
  4. What’s your favorite blog (besides your own)?
  5. What do you think the state of the blogosphere is in our region?

So, what about the second “five” in the title, the five representing the five minute limit for video submissions? Well, how about you only get five minutes to write your answers. No, that’s not a good idea. Rather than changing the title today, it’ll have to be a meaningless “five” when a written submission is published.

The Prairie Blogroll

Thanks to Joshua Best’s comment on my First Omaha Blog Co. Meetup a Success post — “The one thing that would help is if there was a centralized list of local Omaha blogs – I couldn’t seem to find one.” — we’ve decided to take action.

It’s been something we’ve pondered for the past few months. The blogroll on our main page was in need of an update — the companies and organizations that were previously listed were some of the first that Jeff highlighted. In place of the blogroll on our main page you’ll now see links to the events we produce, our presence on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and our contributors’ personal blogs, Twitter accounts, or business website.

We’ve done our best to start the list with some of the blogs we read, now, we need your help in making The Prairie Blogroll massive. No matter what’s being blogged about, if it’s interesting, safe for work content produced in our region, we’d like to add it to the list. Please email danny@siliconprairienews your recommendations (it’s okay to recommend your own).

Next Omaha Blog Co. Meetup

It’ll be at a place you can grab a drink, after 5 p.m., the week of Nov. 9. I’d like your recommendations for the location and day. I’m thinking somewhere in Midtown, Tuesday night.
