170 turn out for the Great Omaha Pillow Fight

Yesterday's "Great Omaha Pillow Fight" was a smashing success. Although the expected numbers from the Facebook event didn't show, about 170 fighters and spectators (according to photo above, I was fighting and forgot to count) came out to Memorial Park.

In response to my question, "First of many or last?" Jon Cady, the pillow fight's organizer, said, "First of many, absolutely."

We'll be sure to cover Jon's future flash mob endeavors, but until then, enjoy the quick video from the fight. And if you posted videos or photos, please link out to them in a comment.

It was a great time. I met Topher from a new online newspaper called River City News and he took these pictures: http://rivercitynews.us/greatpillowfight09.html

From Jon Cady (via Facebook message to the event attendees):

"Hello again everyone.

The official "Great Omaha Pillow Fight" video has been created, and is now playing here:

Huge thanks to my good brother, Mark Hennings, who shot this and put it together for everyone. You should be friends with him.

Much love! Go watch. It's excellent.

Jon"

I think it's awesome video - a well executed event all-around. And there's a great comment at the end of it from one of the participants:

"Also to be said, there's a sense of community, so that we just don't seem crazy. It's about supporting other people who like to make things happen in the city."

This sums up why SPN covered it, why this pillow fight was more than just a pillow fight, and why we hope to see more events like this in the future.
