SPN interviews Pat Lazure and Rohit Keshwani of WikiCity

Omaha May 26, 2009 by Jeff Slobotski

We had the opportunity to sit down with Pat Lazure and Rohit Keshwani of WikiCity who shared information about their current project, WikiCity.

Founded in late 2008, WikiCity provides unique local content on places, events, and people who would be of interest to those associated with any of its 22,000 U.S. towns. It serves these communities much like a local blog, yet using the same open source MediaWiki software that powers Wikipedia, any of its readers are allowed to contribute content.

Take a look at our interview with the team and make sure to reach out to Pat & Rohit with your thoughts and comments!

I think its a great concept and the execution seems to be working. I would encourage you to pursue some interface improvements as far as CSS goes to make it more interesting to use. I think you could make it look a lot less like an out-of-the-box wiki. Let us know if you want any assistance. Keep up the good work guys.

Great Omaha story of two guys, Pat and Rohit, who have really executed something new in a relatively short period of time. Good for them and thanks SPN for letting people know about what they do!

Thanks to Jeff S., Dusty D., Dan K., Dan F., William F., John W., John G., and all the others in the SPN community for helping us get this far!

Great success story... Just shows you what can happen in Omaha and in Nebraska when you have momentum behind you. You can feel the momentum that SPN and Big Omaha have created, and I hope that more companies can ride this wave. The world is too small, and Nebraska even smaller to not interconnect with folks such as Pat and Rohit, and learn from their success. Great work guys! SPN included...

Great work guys! I was pleasantly surprised to find that Plattsmouth, NE was even on the map as well as a huge quantity of businesses here in town. As some others have commented, let me know if I can provide any help with CSS/design or site optimizations.

Cheers,
- Jonathan
