We're less than a month away from Big Omaha and thought we'd give you a little update, reminder and tidbits to pique your interest...

On May 7th & 8th, Omaha and the region will experience something we've never had in our own backyard before.  Many of the nation's leading entrepreneurs, innovators and creatives will decend on Omaha to share their ideas, motivation and connect with others from across the region who are "getting it done".

This isn't solely a tech conference, or something just for social media devotees to attend.   We're not trying to put together another Web2.0 or SXSW, both of which are wildly successful in their own rights.  Our goal with BIGOmaha, not unlike things we do on a daily basis through Silicon Prairie News, is to continue to build and develop our community of innovators as well as highlight and promote the "success stories" from the area.  There's a lot of insanely talented individuals doing some awesome work in their own industries and we think that for far too long, these stories have gone unheard.

Thus spawned the reason for Big Omaha...after we hosted Sarah Lacy last year while on her book tour, she made a few comments about how unique Omaha was in light of other cities she had seen on the coast.  We sat back and thought to ourselves, let's do something where we can bring folks in from across the country to motivate and give us a kick in the pants to launch that business, idea or product...and not to wait, but to do it today!

Plain and simple, the Big Omaha event will be a tremendous way to connect with not only others in town for the event, but also with people like Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV, Jason Fried of 37Signals, Jeffrey Kalmikoff of Threadless, Matt Mullenweg of Wordpress, Adriana Gascoigne of Girls In Tech, Ben Rattray of Change.org, Micah Baldwin of Lijit and more...all hosted by Shira Lazar!

There's only a few more days to make your hotel reservations at the discounted rate and the special pricing will remain in effect for just a short time more!

We've also recieved some great coverage in the press over the last few weeks including a Kansas City Star article by Jason Gertzen, some thoughts on the event by Joe Olsen, owner of PhenomBlue and more.

Here's our opporutnity to show the rest of the nation what we're doing in the Midwest and the type of creative and motivated people we have here.  Get in today for Big Omaha and we look forward to updating you over the upcoming weeks...
