Silicon Prairie News is excited to announce its partnership with Midlands Venture Forum to film and report on future events.

SPN will cover its first MVF event this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Scott Conference Center, when MVF hosts its Networking Dinner, titled “Venture Capital in Underserved Areas.” Nebraska native Lynn Gellermann, founding partner of Adena Ventures and a partner in Woodland Venture Management, will be the featured speaker.

Nebraska has often been described as an underserved region in terms of venture capital activity. Come listen to how other underserved areas – such as Appalachia – have countered similar challenges. Nebraska native Lynn Gellermann will share his thoughts on venture capital in general, on invigorating underserved areas and on his perspective of his home state.

Cocktails start at 5:30, dinner at 6, and the program runs from 7 to 8PM. Registration may be completed on MVF’s event page or by phone at 397-0280.

With MVF events such as this, SPN hopes to widen the opportunity to learn from seasoned entrepreneurs both locally as well as nationally.

Formed in December of 2000, the Midlands Venture Forum is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that creates regional support for entrepreneurs in the Midlands by providing the necessary educational tools to new businesses.

Through monthly meetings and periodic educational workshops, the Forum helps, educates, and informs entrepreneurs. These meetings provide a venue for business people to come together and for entrepreneurs to present their business plans, go-to-market strategies and investment requests.

A special thanks to Dennis Wellendorf , Executive Director of MVF, and  John Gustafson, Vice President of the MVF’s Board, for facilitating this partnership!
